Illinois Medical District is a neighborhood in the Near West Side community. It is considered one of the largest medical districts in the United States. It is the home of John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital (formerly Cook County Hospital). Its boundaries are the Eisenhower (I-290) Expressway (N), 16th and 18th Street (S), Ashland Avenue (E), and Western Avenue (W).
