Rogers Park is a community that is predominantly Caucasian, but very diverse. There are many African Americans, Hispanics, Asians, and other nationalities. Named after settler Phillip Rogers, who operated a tollgate in the neighborhood; he also traded and worked with the local Native American tribes. The neighborhood has a higher rate of residents with Master’s, Professional, and Doctorate Degrees than the state average. Its boundaries are The Calvary Cemetery west to the CTA Yard/the CTA Yard south to Howard Street/Howard Street west to Ridge Avenue (N), Devon Avenue (S), Lake Michigan (E), and Ridge Avenue (W).
